Joy of the divine

Joy of the divine
Comest near and be mine
Fill within heart
Thine illuminating art

Shine between shadow
That which stretches
One's gaze
Through the seemly unending haze

So then bring brighter days
To fill in these darkened dreams
Long hath my heart
Sought for some part

Art of humanity
Mindless insanity
Speak through my frailty
And guide me to thy truth

Prove within question
All that deception
Hath doddled away
And reveal (I pray)
Thy brightest array
That may shine through decay
And draw me away

Ah come now sheer bliss
And givest thine divined kiss
Renew and restore
What hath been once before

Do not ignore
Despite this plight
I abhor
Bring then forevermore
Thy truth
Come knocking a'door

So earnestly eagerly
Desiring me
Despite all depravity
Dust away the clay
In the cavity

And parish in me
All that would flee
From thee

Grow in me
Thy gift of eternity
Living in love
And humility

Bearing thy burden
Beyond earthly ability
All for the one
Who breathes life
Into everyone
